UGA tennis coach builds player's character

     University of Georgia’s men’s tennis coach focuses on developing leaders by building character and work ethic through the sport.

     “We do a lot on team development and leadership,” said Will Glenn, associate head coach of the team, during an interview with the UGA journalism students on Monday.

     Glenn said that the team uses the first fifteen minutes of each practice to talk about the team dynamic, leadership roles and poise on and off the court. Although Head Coach Manuel Diaz and Glenn set the vision of the team, the players are given the autonomy to create their ideal team environment.

     “You always try to do what is best for the player, even if they play against you,” said Glenn.

     Glenn, 33, played tennis for UGA from 1998 to 2003 and jumped at the opportunity to coach the team in 2005. He is currently preparing the team for the upcoming SEC Championships on April 18.
